Zebra's M-402 mechanical pencil is an excellent example of modern simplicity and exceptional design. The executive style stainless steel barrel is complimented by bold typography and a sleek, yet substantially tactile, rubber grip. This is one of the strongest barrels I have ever owned. The M-402 takes standard 0.5mm lead and is refillable through the rear cap that (when removed) reveals a Zebra #83211 eraser, which (when removed) reveals a compartment for the lead. For a $50* mechanical this is obviously expected and required! While critically acclaimed in our decade we can only hope that generation past and future will continue to appreciate the fine Japanese craftsmanship. Its weakest point is the shirt clip which I find to be a disappointment in strength comparatively to the barrel.

By far my most favourite mechanical pencil! They have a black pen version (F-402) but I much prefer the lower-end F-301.
